Comments by "" (@pwillis1589) on "Australia to deploy ADF and RAAF aircraft to the Middle East amid tensions" video.
The deployment is to directly support Australians in the region and enhance their safety. How could making Australians safer be the worst decision. It isn’t even a foreign policy decision, it is just a practical step to assist in helping to get Australians out of physical danger.

And your evidence for this claim is. Oh yeah that’s right you made it up in your head.

@delawarecop No you are factually wrong. The government is responsible for all Australians and even a basic understanding of geopolitics shows you fight your enemy on his doorstep not your own.
4
@leonie563 No this deployment is specifically to assist the evacuation of Australian citizens out of the region. Why do RWNJs always go to the conspiracy theory first?
3
@leoncutajar1369 Fair point. However different government now to then.
3
@Gotchamate Yes we have quite a large number of dual citizens living in Gaza and Israel.
3
To protect and provide safety for Australians in the region. How hard is this to understand?
3
@millennium677 Any potential enemy.
2
@KIA-MIA-POW Perhaps however that doesn’t lessen the government’s responsibility.
2
@blackknight3496 QANTAS is a commercial enterprise. It is not in the business of ensuring the safety of Australians overseas.
2
@blackknight3496 Any potential enemies of Australia.
1
@blackknight3496 It is far better to be on your enemies doorstep and fight him there than on your own doorstep. I read that somewhere. Probably "The Art of War".
1
@jmcham1000 Because a Royal Commission report on child sexual abuse ordered by a then Gillard Labor government was delivered to a then LNP government in 2017. Including it and over 20 other investigations and reports were again delivered to Abbott, Turnbull, and Morrison led Liberal governments. Ask them why they failed to act. Your comment is nonsensical political bias and is dismissed and fallacious garbage.
1
@KIA-MIA-POW If your argument is failure to act previously is justification for not acting now, do you really wish me to point out the numerous fallacies in your argument?
1
@tf-lv4zu Our government made the decision, not the military.
1
@delawarecop Section 51 of the constitution gives the commonwealth a wide range of legislative abilities to provide peace and good order.
1
@delawarecop As to the rest of your comment it is mostly unintelligible nutjob conspiracy crap.
1
@tf-lv4zu If I need to explain that, then clearly you have no idea how Australia's constitutional monarchy works. Which totalitarian regime do you live in?
1
@delawarecop The Human rights commission act 1986 provides the necessary compulsion on the government to force it legally to take care of its citizens.
1
@delawarecop Factually wrong on both counts. Dual citizens are entitled to Australian government protections as well not all those civilians in the area live there many are tourists or visiting relatives. Secondly I quoted an Australian government act of parliament. It is legislated, it is the law. The government is legally bound to follow the law. If you feel it has not then take your case to court. The courts will in my opinion laugh you out.
1
@delawarecop Yes it does. It applies to all duties the federal government conducts.
1
@Gotchamate No contradiction at all . Positioning military assets in close proximity to their potential use is just sensible practice. All that has been positioned is some support aircraft and logistic personnel. No combat elements have been deployed. You interpreted my comment far to literally.
1
@Gotchamate There’s no doubt Iraq was a mistake. Using military assets to assist in the evacuation of civilians is in no way even remotely similar to the invasion of Iraq. For you to suggest so is a gross misunderstanding of the Australian government’s intentions.
1
@KIA-MIA-POW It does now. Assets have been deployed. There are Australians in Gaza, Israel, and Lebanon. It is simply prudent planning to provide assistance to evacuate people.
