@npg192 There are multiple ways. Firstly I absolutely contest the idea the Chinese have more resources and this is because you incorrectly assume this is a one on one fight, wrong. We already are and have forged alliances with the US, UK, India, and Japan, dwarfing the resources available to China. When Australia speaks at the UN we have 194 fellow countries listen and support us, when China speaks that look over their shoulder and find Venezuela and Nth Korea as thier only buddies. Yes we absolutely do get to tell a despotic regime how to behave as it is the moral and right thing to do. In no way is Chinese expansion through coercive economic measures in China's best interest as you suggest. Finally one measure would be a concentrated diplomatic effort backed up with financial aid into the Solomons.

@fitlegend9733 Russia had absolutely zero security concerns about Ukraine, they invaded a sovereign country because Putin thinks it is Russian territory. Almost the entire world at the UN voted for sanctions it was something like 194 countries, implying it was just US, UK, Australia is a strawman, and a fallacious statement. It is almost comical to suggest Australia would use military force to coerce the Solomons and again is another strawman making your entire comment one long nonsensical fallacious statement. Try again with a proper reasoned argument.

@fitlegend9733 OK that's much better, and I definitely take your point that NATO expanding after assurances by the US that it wouldn't has been a concern for Russia. However the description of NATO as an enemy of Russia is grossly misleading NATO is a defence pact that is enacted by being attacked not the act of attack. It is you who should be doing your research on this topic. Individual sovereign nations can build whatever military infrastructure they want in thier own country. The labs you refer to in Ukraine were actually built by the Soviets so that is another strawman. Yes I agree sovereign nations can do what they want but within the boundaries of international law. Provide evidence of US coercion other than a reasoned argument at the UN. 194 countries virtually the entire world agreed with them. China, India, and Pakistan did not vote against sanctions they abstained, once again it is you who needs to do the research. I agree things are changing but your logic of because countries see Russia illegally invading Ukraine will turn them away from the US is demonstratively wrong as Eastern European countries now clamber to join NATO to protect themselves from further Russian invasions.

Yes India and Turkey have abstained and that's because they are both purchasing S400 AA missile systems from Russia, no explanation required. Your statement about trust for NATO defys the observable proof, NATO just had a hugely successful meeting in Ramstein and left with a consensus about the war in Ukraine. India is currently in a direct border conflict with China, hence it is already on our side and has in the last six months joined us in significant military and economic and trade alliances. The West still maintains its political economic and military superiority, but yes things change not necessarily for the better, good luck dealing with China.
