As a 35 year veteran, there is nothing special about us, having said that the Dept of Veterans affairs in a disgrace. In defence we would have regular suicide awareness training and you could volunteer to do a 3 day course as well. No other employer in the country takes better care than their staff than defence in my experience anyway.
