@ishtarlew598 OK as long as you understand tariffs will achieve nothing other than reducing economic growth in the US and potentially worldwide. Also you understand any manufacturing that returns to the US will be robotic and provide few jobs. Thirdly the US economy has outgrown most of the world in the years it's manufacturing industry has declined. It exports services, education, and health where it has the technological advantages. You are living in the 1930s and do not understand how a modern economy works.

@ So a few points there. No country has contacted the US to negotiate anything, if you know of one name it. Trade deficit so what, read an economic text book, it means nothing. The US is an economic power house with GDP growth of over 200% in the 40 years since its last trade surplus. National debt and trade balance are two completely different things, again read an economic textbook the two are not linked. Yes the US needs to either reduce its government spending or increase its revenue, neither will be addressed by tariffs, which almost universally economists regard as stupid. Trumps largest tax cut in US history achieved what exactly? Did it reduce the national debt or increase its? Will a tariff, which is simply another word for a tax on the American people work? No sensible economist thinks so. Americans are incredibly inventive and ingenious, you so underate them.
