@trg9765 What have we learned?
1
Do you see any benefit at all of acknowledging an accurate account of that history?
1
@trg9765 I understand that’s your opinion, my question was what have we learned, that allows us to go forward? You didn’t answer that.
1
Jim Rolfe No worries as long as you accept an earlier death, poorer health outcomes, less wealth, less employment, less education, and you accept spending time in our gaol system. How much money do you need?
1
@jimlofts5433 If you criminalise indigenous behaviour then of course they will be gaoled at a higher rate. If it was a criminal offence to be drunk in your home at a dinner party, I would have spent half my life in gaol. Instead we criminalise public drunkenness, get your head out of your arse and open your eyes.
1
@savagegfry And your evidence of this is?
1
@savagegfry You are just factually incorrect. You didn’t read the Uluṟu statement yourself as it clearly states indigenous sovereignty coexists with Commonwealth sovereignty. You don’t understand sovereignty, you need to read and learn what this word means. Secondly our constitution does not express any right at all to own property. You haven’t even read it either. Two completely fallacious claims. What else have you got?
1
@savagegfry Right so if you had said we have English common law rights to own property granted through High court rulings then I would not have blinked, but thank you for acknowledging there is no implicit right in our constitution to own property. A voice enshrined in the constitution with no veto power, no legislative capacity, and no financial delegation deserves a resounding YES. Conservatives are always terrified of change. I understand fear makes people irrational.
1
@jimlofts5433 And many more have expressed support for the the governments suggested wording. What’s your point?
1
Factually and demonstrably a false statement. I can cite and reference numerous scientific papers that prove beyond reasonable doubt the use of fire in indigenous culture.
1
@jimlofts5433 No scientist has ever suggested indigenous peoples conducted controlled burns, however there is significant scientific evidence that indigenous people used fire to hunt and this burning reduced natural undergrowth of the bush. The use of smoke from fire in indigenous medicine and ceremony is well documented. Fire and smoke was used by indigenous groups to greet Dutch explorers in the 17th century, just a few years before Ernie was born. You are just factually wrong on every point. I’m sorry but factual science beats your gut feelings.
1
@jimlofts5433 I would expect nothing less from a conservative fact less gut feeling based view. That is your right.
1
@jimlofts5433 Ahhh right now I understand your opposition to a voice. The Uluṟu statement which is a non political request for a conversation with the Australian people from the indigenous people of Australia in your mind you associate with the Labor party and you simply oppose anything the Labor party advocates for. Why didn’t you just say that in the beginning. Your argument is just feelings based and has no actual factual basis, but is your perfect right.
1
@jimlofts5433 I can only go by the language you use.

Worked out how to fly the ANF yet?
