@stumarston6812 Thanks for the warning, as I am in my twilight years myself and spending my super on travel and leisure it’s good to know.

@fringedweller5425 Your comment just ignores the vast majority of science. We have known since about 1860 how greenhouse gases effect the atmosphere and we have observed the increasing amounts since industrialisation. No wild crazy conspiracy theory about it. Just basic science.
3
@fringedweller5425 So you have cherry picked one study. Fallacious argument and dismissed as such.

All LCOE studies prove wind and solar are significantly cheaper at producing electricity than coal or gas. Virtually 100% of a solar panel can be recycled and private industry currently do this. Wind turbines can be recycled into cement products and this again is currently being done profitably in a plant in the US.

BlessedWoman Firstly I am not a “greenie” whatever that means. Secondly everything I said in my comment is factually correct. Thirdly to your point of capacity, using current available technology and due to its low cost we can build excess renewable capacity into the network and combine this with various storage measures to provide reliable electricity. This will remove the wild swings in fossil fuel commodity prices.

BlessedWoman The data used in that documentary was 20 years out of date.

@terryshepherd8595 You can though use green energy throughout the process to reduce as much as possible CO2 emissions. Nobody has suggested resources aren't consumed constructing renewable infrastructure. Your argument is a bit of a strawman.
1
@rogercamp2910 Completely false statement, virtually the entire blade can be turned into cement products and the turbine structure can be recycled as any normal metals and plastics can be. They are considerably more recyclable than coal plant infrastructure.

BlessedWoman Moore documentary is full of factual errors and false conclusions.

@aaronforsythe8556 And your point is? That people do the wrong thing! Well no shit Sherlock. Did Union Carbide poison thousands of people. Your statement is just a fallacious argument. Just because something is being done means what? Your argument is just illogical nonsense.
1
Unfortunately you are ignorant to the balance CO2 plays in the atmosphere, by your logic 100% CO2 and plant life would be booming, you and I however would be long dead.
1
@kimehunt4501 I didn't say we could. What I was saying is the argument that sudden increased CO2 levels in the atmosphere is good for the planet simply goes against all the scientific evidence.
1
@Murray9452 That was a "Time" Magazine article. The scientific consensus during the 70s was the planet was warming due to a rapid increase in CO2 in the atmosphere.
1
@UniqueBreakfastTaco No your reply is ridiculous. Even the most cursory research of the scientific papers during the 70s proves beyond doubt that the scientific consensus in the 70s was of a observable warming of the planet. Yet all people can remember is the front page of one edition of a "Time" magazine article. You need to read more widely.
1
@UniqueBreakfastTaco Firstly Al Gore is a journalist turned politician, why would you even remotely pay any attention to anything he said about the climate? That would be nonsensical. It is only now be going back and reading the published scientific papers of the 70s that we have learnt that in fact the overwhelming majority of them observed a warming of the planet. Provide the evidence scientists said we would of run out of oil by now. Somebody may have calculated from the known reserves and current usage that it may have been the case however we have discovered more oil and usage rates may have changed.
1
@UniqueBreakfastTaco Fair cop.

@kellikelli4413 Net zero emissions doesn't mean zero emissions. Do your research.
