This has got absolutely nothing to do with the Labor party or the greens. I just cant believe the total lack of knowledge displayed here. Firstly No political party had anything to do with the Uluṟu statement from the heart. In a exhaustive process over almost 10 years the indigenous community in a series of debates and consultations finalised the Uluṟu statement. 250 elders from all the different regions then co-signed it and presented to the Australian people as a sign of reconciliation. This is all public knowledge and the fact you lot here haven’t a clue is to me just amazing.

@daniellebcooper7160 So you are accusing thousands of indigenous Australians who agreed to the Uluru statement from the heart of being Marxists. Do you know just has nutso that's sounds?

@daniellebcooper7160 yep that is the exact picture cultural marxist conspiracy theorists always conjure up.

@Luum81 I was referring to the 2010 Panel on recognition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders in the Constitution established by the Gillard government in 2010, hence my almost ten year number. However indigenous attempts for Constitution recognition go back as far as 1937 and a petition calling for parliamentary representation. But your memory from 2015 is reasonably accurate. What's your point?

@Luum81 You fundamentally misunderstand, all those actions were not initiated by either side of politics they were initiated by the aboriginal community. The indigenous community have to use government, governments haven't done anything the indigenous community didn't tell them first.

@Luum81 Getting on board is not being involved with the process. The Uluru statement was initiated by and involved the Aboriginal community not the National Party or the Greens. It is just incorrect to suggest any or one political party has been involved with Aboriginal recognition in the constitution. The indigenous community has had to involve government because as we agree that's how things get done.
