As the original inhabitants, it would have been nice to include them in the constitution, you know, just polite manners. Actually, no indigenous people took part in any of the debates/conventions/referendums that formed our constitution. They were completely excluded. They are not represented by the constitution at all.

@No that is factually incorrect. There was no indigenous input at all in the constitutional debates/conventions/referendums prior to the constitution being written. The original constitution was explicitly racist and it enabled the racist 1901 Immigration restriction act to be legally legislated. All you have shown is an ignorance and desire to literally whitewash our history.

@ Well no actually. The constitution was written without any indigenous input at all. It was racist in intent so the racist 1901 Immigration restriction act could be legislated. Scam is merely an emotive word that is neither accurate nor sensible. Yes the voice would have provided true constitutional recognition, which is something you clearly don’t want indigenous people to have. Just be honest about it.

@ Just a couple of huge glaring errors there on your part. Indigenous people had been in Australia for 65000 years (latest scientific evidence) and had every right to be at least consulted. They were not, in fact sections 25, 51(xxiv), and 127 of the constitution were explicitly racist and designed to exclude them. You really get your knickers in a knot about the use of the word racist, even though in the case of the constitution it is just fact. Immigrants to this country adopt by choice our constitution, it is not forced on them as it was to the indigenous population. Interestingly you mention African immigrants, as the constitution was specifically written to exclude them as well. WA at the time of Federation had laws explicitly preventing Africans from owning property or mining leases. Nothing racist there hey! You don’t seem to have much of a grasp on Australian history.
