Hey Kenny where in the world is a functioning SMR providing electricity to a grid.
1
@asnail6550 Factually incorrect both are still experimental.
1
Nope, factually incorrect, both those reactors are just small PWR. I'm talking about SMRs of the thorium type. Miniature PWRs have been around since the late 50s.
1
@asnail6550 Absolutely, but it will never be cheaper than wind and solar. The proliferation of SMR will create the possibility of massive weapon proliferation which can only be prevented by heavy regulation, and that will cost $mega.
1
@asnail6550 Yes this happens to me all the time. Very frustrating, but that's YouTube comments
1
@darylephillips6778 Technically that is not true. I know its slightly different but on several occasions US CVNs have parked up in US ports and used the 4x PWRs that power the carrier to help power large parts of cities devastated by hurricanes.
1
They are no different at all and Duttons plan to build 7 would have only provided 4% of our energy needs in 2050.

@bettymarshall2702 The typical reply from someone with no data and no argument, just a vacuous comment
1
@bettymarshall2702 The data used and made available was from the LNP own costings. Are you saying they were lying.
1
@darylephillips6778 Are you suggesting the LNP received its data on costings and energy consumption in Australia in the next 30 years from the US military, because that's not what Dutton said publicly. Are you saying he lied to the Australian public.
1
@bettymarshall2702 No I read the LNP policy and data as presented on their website. 7 X 1000MW PWR would in 2050 provide just 54GWh or 12% of expected demand.
