This is a bit apples and oranges. The Prime Minister is a unique position that can't be compared to a local council CEO. What would be a better comparison would be a similar size private or public company with a similar amount of employees and/or budget turnover as Parramatta council. Also why not compare the PMs salary to say Chris Hemsworth? I mean who has the more important job? In typical sky news fashion this comment is just plain stupid. I'm joking about Chris Hemsworth and the PM.

@LordCornflake Two fallacious statements in one paragraph making your comment illogical and only adding to the stupidity of the original article. Firstly I said nothing about being or not being outraged, all public monies being spent should and need to be scrutinised. So that's your first fallacious comment. The second is an ad hominem attack on the size of my mind as tiny as it is, it is not an argument, hence what you have said is just nonsensical rubbish. Now to the discussion topic, if you want to attract talented people into public jobs, then to a certain extent you are going to have to offer a salary package that that person could get privately. On the information given in this article I see no reason to be outraged, had it been better informed then I may have been. What is outrageous is that a carny can earn $76 million and perhaps the most important and difficult job in the country gets a lousy half mil, and i had already pointed out that was not a serious comment.

@LordCornflake I spent 10 minutes doing some research which you would expect Paul Murray to have done and low a behold the average CEOs salary for a company with a similar revenue/expenditure and amount of employees that Parramatta council has is $731000, so at $633000 Parramatta city are getting a bargain and any outrage is misguided. Sky News should be the target of your outrage for misinformation in this article.

@LordCornflake I agree it is difficult to compare CEOs of public institutions to private industry, but what do you think is a fair salary for Parramatta city CEO who is responsible for 700 employees and a business that has a $270 million turnover.

@LordCornflake Geez thats hard, and I really think it under values public service, but fair enough if that's what you think. That's way less than I earned and my job was less responsible in some aspects than a council CEO. Do you think the PM deserves his half mil?
