Except your statement is manifestly false. The sun is always shining somewhere and the wind is always blowing somewhere. Recent studies have shown offshore wind turbines could easily provide the entire electricity demand and then some for Australia. No need to burn anything.

@geoh7777 And you completely ignore the problems of burning fossil fuel. It is subsidised, it pollutes, is maintenance heavy, it requires massive infrastructure, is not sustainable, oh did I mention the burning of it is unnaturally warming the planet at a potentially massive dangerous cost.

@johngeier8692 I have no problem with the maintenance and depreciation costs of renewables. In Australia most of our coal plants have been depreciated to zero. I was aware of Antarctica and actually made a bit of a faux pas in a previous discussion about the Texas power failure earlier this year when I said wind power doesn't fail in the cold of Antarctica but of course it needs diesel backup and South Australia is similar it is up to approx 60% on a yearly average of renewable electricity when only 15 years ago it was100% coal, however SA regularly import coal produced electricity from Victoria. The thing with wind turbine maintenance is you can turn a single turbine off and fix it without effecting the total system output, you can't do that with a coal or gas plant the whole plant goes down as it did in Queensland earlier this year and in the Hunter and that massively effects the systems output. Anything mechanical wears out and needs maintenance, coal, gas, nuc, solar, wind, hydro plants all need constant repairing.

Factually incorrect. 100% of wind turbine infrastructure is recycable, its expensive but doable. The blades can be made into cement. When did you discover a concern for landfill, probably when you thought you could use it as an argument against your unsubstantiated bias against renewable energy.

The solar and wind generator industry fixed this years ago with a simple software upgrade. No longer even remotely an issue.

So by destroying you mean record highs on the stock market, continued massive job creation, and economic growth, 6% in the last quarter. I wish we had that kind of destroying going on in Australia.
