@franktully3065 Thst would be anecdotal and would require me to provide personal details. I would prefer to reference numerous defence reviews, white papers, and experts who all agree defence spending should be about capability not an arbitrarily % ratio of GDP. Read the last SDR. I did 35 years in the Army in Armoured and then Logistics so I have a shit load more knowledge of defence requirements than Danby.

@ricbarker4829 Defence experts in a whole series of reports have consistently stated Defence spending should match what capabilities you what, not an arbitrary figure that is a % ratio of your GDP. Now if you really are serious about defending a country our size against China/Russia with such a small population then there are only two solutions, mandatory conscription and the procurement of thermo nuclear weapons. Anything else and you are farting into the wind. This bloke is just a partisan hack as are all the Libs who are just using defence as a political wedge.
