Nothing is quite as stupid as thinking calling someone racist because they claimed elements of Australian culture is racist is in anyway a coherent statement.

Except it isn’t.

@cabbage9398 Yes and I didn’t mean to imply she didn’t. She is accurate in her assessment. From the current issues with antisemitism to not long ago the constant racism displayed to the indigenous people throughout the voice debate. Then let’s move on to the Islamophobia on show since 9/11, and the torrid time asians still receive all the way back to the white Australia policy and our explicitly racist constitution (some elements of which still remain). She has a good point. It’s reality deal with it, don’t be a snowflake.

@cabbage9398 I certainly never suggested or opined that Australia wasn’t a great place to live and yes significantly more tolerant than many others if not most. Just recognise and acknowledge our history and move towards making improvements so we can be even better.

@cabbage9398 I’ve never lived in any other country but you only need to look at the US and it’s clear history of racism. Now I’m a big fan of colonialism but I fully accept the racist/cultural philosophy behind it. You only need to read the philosophical writings of the enlightenment to understand the explicit racism of Kant, Hegel, and Hume. Do you wish me to list some of the neo right wing racist organisations currently in Australia. I don’t understand why people or yourself are so offended by these facts.

@cabbage9398 Sorry I probably didn't answer your question directly. Not sure about about majority white countries but there are certainly some countries I'd consider significantly more racist than Australia. Japan and Saudia Arabia. There are many European countries I'd consider seem not to be racist, but I don't live there.
1
@cabbage9398 Well I don’t necessarily measure a countries culture by its racial mix, as you do, and I’m not attempting to compare countries you are forcing me to. I’ll concede their are countries inherently more racist and that there are countries less racist and I’m not suggesting huge improvements haven’t already been made in Australia, only that there is more we can do.
1
@cabbage9398 I made no comment about any other specific country other than the US which clearly current grapples with racism. You made the leap that every country is racist. I gave no criteria I gave explicit examples of current Australian culture. I could go into specific laws that while not inherently racist have the effect of being racist and while not every one who voted no in the referendum was racist every racist voted no.

@cabbage9398 I don’t believe a discussion on immigration is inherently racist unless you feel there is a level of racism being displayed. There are legitimate arguments to be made for decreasing or increasing the level of immigration in the national interest. I don’t believe ethnic or cultural background should have anything to do with deciding who we allow to immigrate. Skill requirements should be the deciding factor, short of providing a certain amount for refugees. Also be aware one of our biggest export industries is education. It provides cash to our GDP, helps with the balance of payments, but it does mean foreign students.

How about we sack the entire NT police force as well. As evidenced by the current Coroners enquiry racism is deeply ingrained in the organisation.

user-wb2zo1hs6f I lived in Darwin for 9 years. I have personally witnessed the racism the indigenous people have to deal with.
1
user-wb2zo1hs6f What evidence do you have of the ALS being racist?
1
user-wb2zo1hs6f How is the ALS racist?
1
@user-wb2zo1hs6f Yes racism exists in many forms and non indigenous people are subject to racism as well. What's your point? That's its OK because non indigenous people suffer from racism as well.
1
@user-wb2zo1hs6f That is just nonsensical fallacious garbage. Read up on any dictionary meaning of racism, and a legal service provided to specific ethnic group that as it turns out is incarcerated at levels far beyond the average non indigenous people merely attempts to restore some balance. Any person in this country has the ability to seek legal aid. Once again your claim that the ALS is nonsensical idiocy.
