  1. You forgot one very serious problem: nuclear power plants . Without water being constantly pumped in, every reactor on the planet with loose it's coolant fluid. Result? Chernobyl times dozens... there goes a sizable chunk of the surface. And this doesn't even count the reactors on nuclear powered warships...
