ย yesย well this isnt about obama, Obama is gone...so that's irrelevant but this is a local issue and the ppl directly responsible for these kind of proposals are the police chief, mayor, city manager, sheriff, city council, etc. They are the ones who write and implement policy. So that's where I'm focusing my comments not past presidents. Residents and visitors want to feel safe and should have a reasonable expectation of safety and basic city services which includes a FULLY FUNDED POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT. If dallas want to play this game residents and employees will go to places like wylie, grand prairie, frisco, forney, cedar hill, etc. Where there's plenty of funds and appreciation for the police and public servants. Who wants to clock in everyday for 30 years for a departemnt that bad mouths you and throws you under the bus every chance they get? No one. Police officers arent going for that anymore. They need support. Not blind allegiance but support. Why is that so hard for folks to grasp

Most murder trials actually take 3-4 years...then we had covid and it's high profile trial. I'm surprised it didn't take 5 years. Maybe you don't know alot about criminal trials but it's alot of moving parts, there is doctor and psych evaluations, evidence gathering, gathering witness and their statements, sometimes running Financials, phone records, DNA collection, expert witness and navigating their busy schedule, pathologists, medical examiners evaluations, the attorneys have to learn their cases, the defendant, the victim, sometime speak with different social service agencies, toxicology, all the witnesses. You can't do that in 6 months. It takes awhile. Then you have to give the defense enough time to gather and present their evidence, then jury selection, getting the case on the judges calender, they will have multiple murder cases on the docket they need to devote enough time to, in addition to other cases, burglaries, rapes, robbery, extortion, petty cases, misdemeanors, etc. I'm guessing u never worked in criminal justice. It's a long slog
