I HATE, HATE, HATE that I'm forced to spend the majority of my waking hours in a place I don't want to be, surrounded by people I don't like... (though I am currently unemployed and loving every minute of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)😁😁😁

Wow you sound like me! Had my first job at 14 and just like you, my goal is to retire! I have no intention of working to full retirement age. I just turned 60 in July! Just two more years to go! I will just have to live a minimal lifestyle since I am not college educated and have had a lifetime of low paying jobs and have lived most of my life paycheck to paycheck. I am currently unemployed after a huge layoff in April and TBH, I am in no big hurry to get back into the workplace though, for the very reasons you mentioned.

I was laid off from my job in April. I got a few phone numbers from coworkers that I liked because they tell you at job search seminars that networking helps in your job searches, but to tell you the truth, MOST of the people I worked with I DON"T EVER want to have any contact with again, in the workplace or otherwise!

I was pulled into HR because of coworkers complaining about my attitude. I explained to HR that I don't go to work to make friends, but I don't want to make enemies either. I have bills to pay like everyone else. If I were independently wealthy, I wouldn't work at all, but unfortunately I don't belong to the 'lucky sperm club'.

7:27 I can TOTALLY relate to this! After months of applying for jobs that I knew I was qualified for, multiple job interviews, in person or more frequently, by phone and hearing nothing but crickets from potential employers, I have been forced, out of sheer desperation at this point, to 'settle' for a minimum wage job as a cashier. Minimum is $15/hr in my state. My last job paid nearly $30/hr. The youngest age that I can retire is 62 and the future doesn't look very bright at all. I am 61 and realistically facing homelessness. I can no longer afford my rent. And I'm scared.

6:53 This happened to ME!!! I was given a mind-numbing chore at work that I was paid nearly $30/hour to do. My mind began wandering (as it always does when I am given a boring but easy task at work), and I blurted out to my group leader that the company could save a boatload of money if they bought a bunch of monkeys and trained them to do this! Next day I was hauled into HR because my group leader perceived my comment as racist, when I was really trying to make light of the simplicity of the task I had been given! W.T.F.

15:36 I don't need a stable and well paying job! I am independently wealthy, bored and looking for a hobby because I have way to much time on my hands! 🤣🤣🤣

I remember Sally Jesse Raphael used to say" I got fired all the way to the top."🤑

"Our biggest asset is our employees" is the biggest LIE I have ever heard from company management. They give you the (false) sense that you are actually valuable to the company. My most recent employer herded approx 50 of us in the cafeteria and announced that we all were being laid off due to a decrease in demand for our products. From there we were issued our severance packages, and required to leave our facility access badges, collect our belongings and leave immediately through the main employee entrance. It was the only lay off experience I've had in all of my 40+ years of working many different jobs, and it has only reinforced my cynicism regarding the hypocrisy of upper management. The 'company' doesn't give a rat's ass about it's people. We are merely a disposable tool the company uses to makes it's owner's wealthy.

@talibanairport1544 I have nothing but feelings of contempt for office people for the same reasons you stated but in addition, I have noticed that 'office employees' all think that they are smarter and superiour to all of the people that do the actual physical 'grunt' work. They don't want even to mingle with the 'serfs'... I have witnessed this in every workplace that has offices.

True that! There is a very fine line...

@Nwladylaura369 O. M. G. I worked at McDonald's when I was in my 20's (circa 1980's) and when the closing manager introduced herself to me she proudly announced "They call me The Bitch". I was taken aback because what does one say in response to that? "Congratulations"??? 🤔🤔🤔
