@YesMush7 Way back in the 50s my Dad was stationed at A Navy Air base in Hutchinson Ka. He came home one night worried he was in trouble. (Dad was an AirForce Sgt.) He came home worried that he was in trouble. His Radar crew had been alerted to what they thought was a Russian missile that crossed the arctic and been picked up by the Dew line, Dad alerted the base commander who embarrassed himself in some way by overreacting. Don't know the details. Pretty soon they were told to stand-down and ignore the target. Later my Dad told me he finally realized these were U2 flights. He didn't know about the U2 until Gary Powers got shot down.
