  1.  @matthewrios7549  Japanese culture is complicated and homogeneous. It was as advanced as any other, and the Japanese considered themselves the best culture on earth. But in the 1800's they began importing technology and industrializing. By Ww2, I think 'foriegn barbarian was an older generation thing, ingrained in culture, but ignored by younger people. Not really believed, but still a 'thing'.
