  2. We have seen this before. In the 70s we ended a disastrous war, more than tripled spending on social programs, and had a sudden and huge increase in energy costs due to supply shortages. Of course, the supply shortages were because middle eastern countries tried to bully us into changing foreign policy. Now we have all the same conditions. Our supply shortage in oil is self imposed, but the rest is the same. Ignore history at your peril. By 1979 the combined inflation and unemployment rating reached 20%. BTW: Brandon was beginning his political career at this time. I think he is reliving his youth, fighting the same battle he and his leftwing friends lost in 1980.

  4. When we pump as much oil as we use, we can stay out of middle eastern affairs, and let them run their own affairs. When we need something from the middle east, we have to choose sides in their numerous differences. Needing middle eastern oil is what makes their people see us as imperialists.

  6. Wheat and corn are internationally traded commodities. If the supply is restricted anywhere in the world the result is increased prices for everyone in the world. If you add the fact that oil is also a commodity the same conditions apply. If energy costs more, the cost of producing and shipping products goes up and food prices rise. Putins war contributes to the problem, but he's only one of many reasons we see increased food cost.

  15. Medicare/Mdicaid is intended to help poor people pay for medical treatment. But did you know that only half the money is spent for your care? The other half is called "Pass Throughs", payments to organizations that help provide for health care. For example, The UPMC system bills medicare directly for doctors and equipment used and medicines given. Then they bill that much again just because they own the hospital. UPMC uses this money to buy and close regional hospitals and drive them to UPMC hospitals.

  44. Although the facts don't fit perfectly I recall that Bill Cosby's convictions on sexual assault charges were thrown out because he had effectively been granted immunity in a former plea deal. His conviction of more serious charges were because of a negotiated plea on a lesser charge.

  47. If Biden made an overseas call on that phone it will have been heard and recorded by the NSA. The NSA automatically listens to every overseas call, and by preset parameters, records selected calls. The preset parameters may include such things as particular persons or companies. It is impossible to believe they would not take note of calls between any American and anywhere in such a troubled region as central Europe. The NSA also cooperates with Federal law enforcement, and reports suspicious communication between citizens in America and any foreign countries. These records should be subject to a Congressional subpoena immediately.
