@ A few years ago I noticed all these "Municipal Authority" annual statements in newspapers. They all show a deficit every year, and their balance sheets all said "Not compiled according to General Practices of Accounting". Now I understand why no one gave a crap.

@vuchaser99 Not a lot of federal workers do a working class type job. I know of an agency which had to send equipment inspectors to various sites, but who never seemed to have vehicles available. A contractor was put in charge of the office fleet. They hired a fleet manager. She found that the bosses were using the cars, and the gas card, as personal vehicles. The contractor fired the fleet manager when the director complained that "she locked up the keys and cards".

Am I the only American who is disturbed by our government's actions overseas? What can the world think if America cannot be trusted as an honest partner? Instead of avoiding entangling alliances, we are wrapping our arms around snakes everywhere. What happened to government "is and by rights ought to be" by consent of the governed? Does it only apply to us?

Here are some comparisons to describe how much money that is. $36.5 trillion is - More than the total wealth of all the billionaires who ever lived. -If you confiscated all the wealth of all the billionaires in the world it would not pay off even half the debt. -If you had $36.5 trillion on the day Jesus was born, you could have spent $25million every day since then and continue for another 2,000 years before you run out of money. -$36.5 Trillion is three fourths of the value of all of Americas natural resources, which we may soon have to sell if we cannot reduce the debt.

I looked up various charities on sites that track their effectiveness , governance, administration etc. I found many charities whose principle donors were George Soros and USAID.

@roundearthshill248 Giving 2 billion dollars to an NGO that happens to employ a political ally makes it waste. Doing so secretly makes it suspicious. And if the NGO grantee does not actually exist, or do anything except pay your political allies, it's fraud. Something you might pardon someone for on your way out the door.

Trump said his first day in office was surreal, and repeated it several times. True type A guys are not intimidated by the prospect of a tough job. They know they'll figure it out, and they know (whether true or not) that they know how to do it. I think he gave the best answer he could.
