  1. My granddaughter is a natural student. Straight A's, 4.5 avg., top of her class. Such a good student that by any objective measure, she would be admitted by most universities, DEI or no. Of course, Ivy League competed for her, and she now has a very generous scholarship from one. My observation is that she needed no help from a DEI program. Nor can she be unique among girls, there must be many like my granddaughter. I'll bet if we looked at any identity group we would find the same. So why do we need DEI?
