What the hell, did noone observed that the barcode import/read/whatever it is, was WAY off ?
Actual food label:
serving size 1 can of 106g
serving energy: 230 kCal. About 217 kCal per 100 g
of which:
total fat: 15g (roughly 9 kCal per g of fat, so 15 * 9 = 135 kCal)
of which saturated is 3g
Carbohydrate: 6g (roughly 4 kCal per g of carbohydrate, so 6 * 4 = 24 kCal)
Protein: 18g (roughtly 4 kCal per g of carbohydrate, so 18 * 4 = 72 kCal)
Summing these, we get 135 + 24 + 72 = 231 kCal, which is very close to the shown 230 kCal per serving
Extra stuff: 110 mg cholesterol; 330 mg sodium, 30 mg calcium, 10.8 mg iron and 60 mg potassium
The app:
Says there's two portions/servings, ok
110 kCal - where is this number from ? It's neither the serving energy, neither the per 100g energy.
6g of fat - uhm... totally wrong ?
Saturated Fat - 1.5g - uhm, half of per serving ?
Carbohydrates: 2g - off
Protein: 11g - ???
I assume that since it says there's 2 portions, it simply lists half of what the entire serving (can) is.
But those numbers are still off!
7.5g of fat, not 6g
1.5g of saturated fat, this one is correct
3g of carbohydrates, not 2g
9g of protein, not 11g
Also, if we sum up the energy from the app's numbers, we get 7.5 * 9 (fat) + 2 * 4 (carbos) + 11 * 4 (protein) = 119.5, aka 120 kCal, not 110
Ok, the numbers are not THAT far off, but still quite far in order to have trust in them.
