I don't want to sound like apologist, I'm certainly against DRM, but you simply cannot say that DRM was created "just so you cannot share content with your friends". It's so a few people will not share it with the entire world. This is much, much different, and a massive example of a strawman argument. And that is a totally possible, real, genuine concern for the companies that created that content, in regards to revenue.
The best solution that I can think of, for everybody involved, is to have some sort of DRM, preferably not as intrusive as they currently are, and release a patch with no DRM 1-2-3 years after the game is launched. Like Id Software did with their engines, releasing them to the world after several years, after they made most of the money from their games anyway.
