Yes and no. The idea is that if it isn't popular, the legitimate reasons are only mild annoyances. You can usually get around by easily (like using something else). But when it gets popular, you kind of feel surrounded by it. It's no longer so easy to circumvent it. It's also easier to get annoyed that something bad is no longer just something in a corner, but it's spreading like a plague. So the popularity part makes you from simply not liking it to hate it. With a passion. DIE SYSTEMD!

Yup, that's me! I hate systemd. Don't hate Ubuntu/Manjaro or other popular things mentioned here. And the popularity is partially the reason. I wouldn't hate systemd (everybody is free to create and use what it wants) just for it existing. I hate it because I don't like how it's made and that it's basically shoved down our throats. Which, in a way, is because it's popular. If it wasn't breaking the unix philosophy ( check CVE-2018-16865 to see why. Having journalctl broken and impossible to be replaced is perfect example of what's wrong with not following the unix philosophy) or if it wasn't used so widely, I wouldn't hate it. But these two together make me hate it.
