  2. #AskGN: why change the naming scheme of this "generation" of Intel CPUs when it's a refresh of a refresh ? It's a mouthful, but it's known and predictable. It's naming function, that is, to be easy to recognize for what it is and it does, that part still does it's job. The only thing they could've evaded is that stupid 10900X (and maybe that whole "gen" they could've simply not do it). Other than that I'd say to change the naming scheme when something substantially changes. Why struggle to learn something new for a simple refresh ? That would be a greater sin, in my opition, to force the audience to adapt for such small change. It's more effort in this particular case to learn and adapt a new naming scheme that to struggle with this subpar one. Edit: to justify the #AskGN tag: when should naming schemes change ? What would constitute a good opportunity or need for a naming scheme change ? (also, just to add, the 10nm laptop CPUs names are stupid, I'm that not denying)
