Yes, the lengths at which 14nm was stretched is quite extraordinary. If we were to compare a 6700K versus, say, a 10700K... I truly wonder, if you take a 10700K or a 10900K and set the clocks to be the same as 6700K, and also disable cores so it's also 4c/8t, how much less power would it consume ? Or how much better it would perform with the same power usage, but with frequencies and/or cores unlocked (including having 8c/8t).
Anyhow, I kind of feel bad for Bob Swan. It seems that the company is coming back with Alder Lake, as late as it is. It seems as Intel is getting a new tempo now, and Bob Swan is getting the short stick of it.
Of course, at the end of the day, we can all appreciate the engineering part of Intel, while also acknowledge how bad and evil their marketing and some business decisions are. And those didn't get better under Bob Swan. That's what I hope that maybe Pat Gelsinger can change.
