  1. I remember the new Porsche ... I forgot its model name, but it has a big battery, a bit over 100 kWh, and they weigh at about 600 kg. Now, with this, they could probably reduce that to 400 kg. Maan, that sounds too good to be true. Let's make that 500 kg, and it's still awesome. And on smaller sized cars, having a 30 kWh battery would mean that the car would probably weigh as much as its ICE counterpart. About 1000 kg in total, maybe even less. Exciting times!

  2. They're hyping it as if it's absolutely amazing, yet what Boston Dynamics did literally 10 years ago was better. And Musk touting that it can do everything GTFOutta here with your gigantic BS claims. That's the problem. Exaggerated claims. They're just on "meh" level with what they've shown. Assuming they went by themselves. If the Optimus is STILL remotely operated then it's not even close to impressive.

  3. Damn, I'm late to the party. This was a really nice showing, and I like Thomas and Sono. However, I do have a negative point, to ask: why put a solar panel on a car and not on a rooftop ? For the short to mid term, until we have some saturation of solar roofs, wouldn't that panel generate more on a roof, thus better help with the CO2 and the climate change ? Say, if it's put on a parking lot, keeping shade to the parking below, it can have near peak performance the full year. On a car, especially one like in this video, it can generate 0 W for days, depending on where it is sitting.

  4. Apparently the robovan can lift its shell, which Munro actually said at the end of the video. Which would take care of the potholes and such, if it lifts enough.

  5.  @rogerfroud300  Don't want to sound as insane as that guy, but having a bigger battery means you can charge fewer times, so when you do that, you can have a bigger break while the car charges. Like having a full lunch. Also, if you keep the same volume and weigh, you'll have a bigger battery, so it might recoup the charging speed, by having more "cells". What I mean is that if this has, say, half the charge rate, but you can have 40% extra cells / energy, then if you do that, you'll have 140% of the original battery, but at half the speed = 70% of the speed of the original one. Still significantly slower, but maybe not a deal breaker.

  6. ​ @APopov  I don't know, in Europe there's a surge in microcars. I'd say that for small cars the price is the barrier, not the battery capacity/range.
