Now we only need GIMP 3.0 to launch to wrap up this year. With a proper 5% Linux market share :)

@justanothercomment416 Hey, thanks for the reply. I had the same problem multiple times and sometimes you can see the extra comments by using Sort By newest first. YT is trash. In this case, I can see your comment which starts with "have to do the research yourself". The results by stat counter website (which is where we have the 4.45% figure from) isn't simply checking the user agent that people visiting various websites have ? That's bypassing counting installs and things like that. But there's the thing that some might fake the user agent in order to be more anonymous. But I think it's still a rather small percent. Also I really REALLY REALLY doubt Linux is on par with Macos on desktops and laptops. Maybe on desktops alone. Apple hit a home run when they launched the M chips and a lot of people bought into that and are still in it. Apple laptops are much more common. Not even a contest. Yet.

@justanothercomment416 You still haven't said (well, wrote) anything resebling a reference. Just mentions that the counts are wrongly made. And you call that facts. Unbelieveable. And just so you know, nothing you said seem to have anything related to the percentages that everyone uses. The Linux marketshare that's being cited everywhere, the one that said that Linux is at 4.45% one months ago and 4.55% this month is Statcounter . Search for "statcounter operating system market share" in any search engine and then filter by Desktop (which includes laptops) and you'll get to the 4.55% figure. Now, statcounter measures this by having a small tracking code in (what they say) 1.5 million websites. From what you say, you're speaking about a totally different thing. Which I still have no idea what that is. And you can see in that stat counter that Linux is nowhere near OS X. And I totally believe that. Everywhere I look that's not a Linux community, there's more Apple laptops that laptops that run Linux. And Linux on Apple laptops is still basically non existant yet, as it's not yet ready for daily use.
