@jamessorrel Oh, absolutely. It's very iresponsable this whole forced transition from X to Wayland when Wayland is not fully ready to be a replacement. I did complain about it in a lot of other comments. Something so low level, so important should be properly supported until the new thing has everything ready and people, by themselves (aka not forced), on their own time, at their own pace, on their own will migrated themselves to the new thing. And start removing the old thing when the above happened and the old thing gets to something like 0.3% market share. That's a responsable transition.

@breadmoth6443 My only reply to your obvious trolling, more for the others reading this thread. HDR is worked on XLibre. So is the fix for "every app is a keylogger". XLibre works with all hardware - Wayland had issues with some older cards. Wayland had jack sh&t implementations for accesibility, Xorg and XLibre is much ahead (though still not "done") in this regard. Wayland has no support for scripting and automations, and given their "5 years to settle on a minor protocol" track record, I don't think we'll see something like this by 2030

It is a thread on XLibre's Issues page. I think it will take some time though, they're still in the discussions phase, and the topic seems to be very broad and complicated.

@jamessorrel To be fair, up until like 2 years ago, it was barely usable for non-trivial tasks by a good bunch of people. Accessibility does make sense to be implemented when the rest is rather functional, and that's only been true rather recently.

Don't want to be Canonical's apologist, but I'd say the Ubuntu case is decently justified. It's only for GNOME. Supporting that would mean extra work (that would've been done previously by GNOME) for Canonical. And they do have LTS, so you can stay on 24.04 until 2029 on GNOME. Or on X11 on Kubuntu or any other DE. It's not great, but I can't fault them for not stepping in to do the work for GNOME, it's not their project.

This is Devuan we're speaking about. It will take some time until they have it, they don't simply get the new shiny stuff without proper testing.
