@UKMonkey About your general elections argument... if you were to compare it to Brexit, then it would mean to have another general elections before the elected person got to be in office. If you elect it again after 4-5 years it is different, since you can say that you tried that option for a reasonable amount of time. In case of Brexit the try part didn't even start yet. Also, if things are so debateable after a vote has been cast but not applied, then you are really diluting the idea&process. In time more and more decisions will be fought against and the general public will care less and less about voting, while those in power will focus more and more on giving reasons of not applying the vote if it wasn't in their favor.
