  1. In Master and Commander Captain Jack Aubrey makes HMS Surprise look like a whaler to lure in the enemy, but did a ship ever make itself look like it was badly damaged or crippled to lure in the enemy and if so can you think of any notable examples in both the age of sail and the age steam?

  2.  @czarfore  Those looked like merchent ships but were actual warships, i was going for an actual warship looking like it was K.O'd but was actually fine.
