  2.  @Rob_F8F  The bigger picture is, that the battlefield, as such, no longer exists. Remote recon, along with high precision munitions has all high value targets attacked in the rears of contact. Defensive countermeasures has offensive tactics pushed back hundreds of kilometers. Occupation is a different story of course, but who the hell is stupid enough to go through what it takes to get there. Then endless insurgency and counterinsurgency fighting. And even then... look at Afghanistan, $2 trillion later, vets with head trauma, and prosthetics for life is what we have for our efforts.
