  1.  @neferpitou5163  Because, very simply, the bike went backwards developmentally. No, that isn't how you define talent, but as I said, Rossi would not have won a title on the same bike. Ben Spies summed up the difference very well in saying when he followed Rossi, he could understand what he was doing, he couldn't do it himself. With Stoner, he couldn't understand what he was doing or how he was doing it, which is something that the many of his competitors at the time have echoed. Rossi benefitted from ludicrous advantages throughout much of his career that simply were not availed to the rest of the field. He also engineered many rule changes and forced through many demands when things didn't go his way, that no other rider would have been able to influence.

  2.  @neferpitou5163  Incorrect. Stoner had way more intuitive natural talent - up there with Hailwood and Spencer. Rossi, as good as he was, benefitted from absurd levels of comparative advantage. For years, the entire championship was stacked in his favour.

  3.  @neferpitou5163  Very simply, comparative advantage. Put Rossi on the 07 Ducati he wouldn't have won the title. Stoner had more of a natural talent.
