Thank your for your kind words !!! Sadly Germany still has a somewhat top-down political tradition that reeks of authoritarianism. Unlike the US for example we don't have primary elections for the Chancellor candidates. Unlike Switzerland our politicians don't like referendums and direct democracy. It is still very much a backroom crook culture here. They try to hide it and point at Italy, Russia or Latin America, but a lot of the times the country sadly feels like a Banana Republic.

after watching this video i just checked and ... Christoph Kohl has died last week. 😞

yeah, sadly the Royals weren't able to stop what they have done to London. Selling it off to the Qataris / Saudis / Emiratis / etc. / Russians / Chinese / African dictators / etc. etc. surely didn't help.

well with the way things are going in Germany, come back in 10 to 20 years and you will not recognize the population of the country

@DinoCon agreed
2
@HolgerJakobs why? Because of that one modern facade? or the stupid exhibitions that it houses?
2
@acarriere8534 "50 times" "100 times" --- you are guessing these numbers ? Depending on the project , as has been mentioned on this very channel , additional costs for "beautiful buildings" can be as low as 10%.

simply put : NO

@TheNightshadePrince all of your sentences

Well the argument for the rebuild of the "Stadtschloss" - which i also feel a bit lukewarm about - was that it corresponds architecturally with the Dome and the entire ensemble of the "Museumsinsel". The argument has always been that it closes a missing gap so to speak. I agree on the need of making Unter den Linden to the Berliner Dom carfree however. If you dislike symbols of power that could justify tearing down every dome and church, every city hall, every justice palace, every museum that houses collections of the rulers, every aristocratic castle and mansion, every industrialist's villa, every opera house, every philharmonic orchestra, etc..

it's communist misanthropic brainwashing, nothing else - it shouldn't be like this - old men poisoning the minds of the young

a lot of people that lived through the GDR suffer either from Stockholm Syndrome or opportunism and supported the system of repression back then.

thank you for making this very honest personal video , that doesn't shy away from articulating feelings of regret , betrayal even , loneliness , isolation , etc. but also offering great points to start for like minded interested people, whether it is your platform or the university programs you mentioned. the production quality and the selection of beautiful drawings and models ( oh do i love these models ! ) also was outstanding ! truly an excellent video with great time , work , effort , cost put into it ! thank you ! :face-red-heart-shape:👍👍🙂

well maybe not bringing in the third world and thereby artificially distorting the housing market and causing shortages would be a great idea !
1
@Eyema : yes, did you know him/worked with him?

@Nicarand Seems like you ignored the fact, that the GDR buildings are already under historic protection, the visualized images are for buildings taking space away from the car dominant STREETS. To fill in the gaps, NOT to replace the GDR buildings. You really didn't pay attention Also bringing in the third world and forcing the working German population to subsidize them and give them free housing certainly doesn't help and artificially distorts the housing market and artificially raises demand. You commies just aren't that clever, you destroy everything you touch and then have the audacity to complain about the consequences of your failed policies.
1
So you are a local politician's friend or kid who is pissed because politicians are accurately protrayed? The video shows the visualizations taking space away from the road. The GDR buildings will not "fall" because - as mentioned - they are now already under historic protection. "The actual needs of the city" - determined by who? You? You didn't pay much attention or didn't offer anything of value, surely there are better ways to spend your time than embarassing yourself online.

Merci beaucoup !!! " A good example of what should be done everywhere. For a simple reason: it's beautiful but, unlike stiff and monotonous modern, this facade architecture gives a feeling of well-being and refinement. And if it's functional inside, so much the better. Nothing prevents the happy owners from making interior arrangements of artistic quality... what the ancients did. Look at Paris: Notre Dame, rebuilt identically, will be more beautiful than we have ever known for centuries. Bravo to these new rebuilders from Dresden. "

@mchlle94 didn't you pay attention? it is under historic protection now, so it HAS to be preserved.

the answer probably is that traffic analysis showed a deficiency and so they quickly drew up plans without even considering a classic architectural style even for a bridge. in the end they likely just pushed it through because they thought that way they could easily satisfy car driving voters without taking a step back and thinking for a moment. A very German problem indeed, not thinking it through, i mean. (P.S. the same likely happened with Passau)

oh yes they are , like vile misanthropic cult members , of course all of them are communists

Great points !!! I have to add -- still a lot of people especially the older generations that are going into retirement are still too traumatized by second generation war trauma / public school, university & media brainwashing. Plus a lot of people just aren't that smart to be frank and keep voting for the CDU-FDP-SPD-Green uniparty...

@wanderschlosser1857 because politicians and political parties in Germany have repeatedly broken pre-election promises leading to democratic errosion over the last 34 years, but even going back to the founding / not democratically verifying the basic law of the country. If we had primary elections, something like the political situation/turmoil of today would have been avoided. Russian agent Angela Kastner would have been prevented from picking her heir apparent loser midget Armin Laschet as chancellor candidate. Either Söder or Merz would have gone into the national election 2021 and won against Scholz. The whole crisis and chaos of today would have clearly been avoided by having grass roots democratic CDU primary elections. If you don't see that, you need to get your head examined. Voting for political parties - that doesn't mean anything. At the end these mafia style organizations are run by people and their ability of convincing people of their political goals. Picking a different candidate after an election - name real world examples please and not theoretic hypotheticals. In reality people would be pissed off and feel defrauded by decisions like that. However i have no hope for this country anyway. It's full of lies and delusions. The European debt problem alone with decades of toxic immigration , too high of a cost of reunification , the boomer pension crisis , demographics , organized crime , political Islam, and the future war with Russia will end this whole shit show Banana Republic anyway.
