In 2015 I suffered brain damage i a mugging - the way I think changed, I'm nothing like as quick, but I can think about large-scale problems comprising of a vast number of variables much more deeply, I'm now very good at predicting geopolitical events. But I have much better impulse control than I used to, my brain is nothing like as frantic and active - its more like sitting in the middle of a field instead of a busy subway station as it used to be. But my object permanence is TERRIBLE.

Because your brain diverts functions to other parts of the brain, and sometimes its the visual cortex and that is very powerful, so if it nabs a bit of the VC for processing you will get a big improvement in the function in that area. Maths geniuses usually grow up using the VC for maths
