In 2014 I was worth €6 million After the novelty wore off, I was not happy, but being a good capitalist I thought "well, it must be because Im not rich ENOUGH, a few more million will make me happy"
Scroll forwards to now - I lost everything due to brain damage suffered in a mugging BUT... I can already see that my thinking, even at that low level of wealth, had started to completely change. 1) The inability to see that no amount of money would ever make me happy, if €6 million cant fix it, €100 million won't, you are unhappy cos you are messed up 2) my lack of attention to the rules and norms of society, like parking restriction, they didn't apply to me cos I could afford the fine.
Billionaires might not start off psychopaths, but 100% of billionaires ARE psychopaths.

LILLY THE PINK IS BRILLIANT...!!!
We'll drink a drink, a drink
To Lily the Pink, the Pink, the Pink
The savior of the human race
For she invented medicinal compound
Most efficacious in every case
Mr. Freers had sticky out ears
And it made him awful shy
And so they gave him medicinal compound
And now he's learning how to fly
Robert Tony was known to be bony
He would never eat his meal
And so they gave him medicinal compound
Now they move him round on wheels
We'll drink a drink, a drink
To Lily the Pink, the Pink, the pink
The savior of the human race
For she invented medicinal compound
Most efficacious in every case
Old Ebenezer thought he was Julius Caesar
And so they put him in a home
Where they gave him medicinal compound
And now he's emperor of Rome
Johnny Hammer had a terrible st-st-st-st-stammer
He could hardly s-s-say a word
And so they gave him medicinal compound
Now's he's seen, but never heard
We'll drink a drink, a drink
To Lily the Pink, the Pink, the Pink
The savior of the human race
For she invented medicinal compound
Most efficacious in every case
Aunty Milly ran willy-nilly
When her legs they did recede
And so they rubbed on medicinal compound
Now they call her Milly Pede
Jennifer Eccles had terrible freckles
And the boys all called her names
But she changed medicinal compound
Now he joins in all the games
We'll drink a drink, a drink
To Lily the Pink, the Pink, the Pink
The savior of the human race
For she invented medicinal compound
Most efficacious in every case
Lily the Pink, she turned to drink
She filled up with paraffin inside
And despite her medicinal compound
Sadly pickled Lily died
Up to heaven her soul ascended
All the church bells they did ring
She took with her medicinal compound
Hark the herald angels sing
We'll drink a drink, a drink
To Lily the Pink, the Pink, the Pink
The savior of the human race
For she invented medicinal compound
Most efficacious in every case

@Alltime2050 - NOW WE ARE IN 100% ABSOLUTE TOTAL AGREEMENT "What passes for conservatism today is an ancient way of processing thought that helped our species survive..."
ABSOLUTELY and its even deeper than that - everything about them is designed for survival in a very primitive dangerous environment - here is an example from Bejing University:
The Child In The Well Experiment
Mencius (fourth century BCE) was a Confucian philosopher. He proposed that all humans were inherently good. They all has “sprouts” of goodness, they just needed nurturing.
To demonstrate this he proposed the following. A young child is sat on a well, as you want by it falls screaming down the well. He says EVERYONE would run to help the child, call for help.
Recently this was tested. Subjects were taken to a room in a different city and there was a video screen of the space outside and it shows a well with a child on it. The subjects don't know this is a a pre recorded video, they think it is a live feed. As the “experiment” is being set up the child falls screaming down the well.
The theory is that 100% of people will react and call the assistant to go help the child.
This is not the case. 80% do exactly that, they go nuts and scream for help, run out the room to try and save the child, just what you would expect.
20% do NOTHING. They don't call for help, they don't get up and try to help and a significant proportion don't even register any facial emotions. They just passively watch a child die as if they were watching a commercial for shampoo.
Upon further investigation, the vast majority of these that don't react are right to far right wing in their political views.
---§---
These are the conservatives and from an anthropological evolutionary stand point they were useful - they were the ones that ran away when the village got attacked and wiped out 1 in 5 times. they were the ones that stole and hoarded food in the famine so THEY survived. Evolution had a PURPOSE for conservative right wing sociopaths, but technology and human advancement have surpassed the usefulness of the right-wing.
In modern advanced societies they are just HORRIBLE people who don't fit in - and they KNOW they don't fit in and they KNOW we all dislike them and they have no morals so they turn to violence.

@Alltime2050 "Unfortunately, they think their system of belief is the glue holding civilization together. " YEP - I totally agree
"Conservatism might very well have once been a useful tool for human survival but now, it's the greatest threat to the survival of our species in human history." YEP - totally agree...
I wrote this earleir to a guy asking about life in an ex-communist country - it may be interesting in light of this conversation:
I am English LOL. I live in Bulgaria, have done for 14 years. I know a lot of people in Romania.
These two countries are really interesting for the study of communism cos they are the polar opposite - Bulgaria had it very good under communism, on the whole. Romania had the worst of it with the dictator Nicholi Chaushesku. My friend used to get a pigs ear at Christmas to chew on as a treat...
Before Covis I was compiling a book of stories of ordinary people's lives under communism - we only ever hear about the people who left of the people who were persecuted. You never hear the story of Ivan who worked in a radio factory and had 3 kids, a Trabant, a house with no mortgage, food and great health service.
The main thing to know about communism is it was DIFFERENT to the story we are told in the west. We concentrate on the lack of shiny consumer goods, bt thats not the society they were creating, thats the society WE were creating. Its like judging a fish by the length of its legs.
They were genuinely trying to create a society where everyone had what they needed and it was sustainable environmentally and economically. They were NOT trying to build a consumer society cos they KNEW that was unsustainable cos Karl Marx showed that 150 years ago.
The Bulgarian word for stress is стрес - "stress" - they didn't HAVE a word for stress until capitalism so they just used the English word - that tells you a lot I feel.
In the last general election, 75% of people over 65 years old voted for the communist party. Even my friend's in Romania do kind of miss the communist times, everyone was incredibly poor but EVERYONE was incredibly poor and they looked after each other and they miss that... They like the luxuries of the now western life, but they don't like the inequality of the social isolation and stress it brings.
Bulgaria and Romania have the lowest levels of mental health problems in the EU - I firmly believe this is a hang over from the communist days - the way society is structured here is very family / child centric. NOT work or consumer goods centric. The GOOD father is the one who is home ASAP and in the par playing with his kids. The neglectful father is the one working late to pay for the new BMW whilst his kid is with child care.
I hope this gives you a small insight.
