  1. I live in an Eastern European city now - just as cars were becoming more popular here the climatic and social problems they cause was well knows so the mayor of the city did the exact opposite. He cut the existing 4 lane roads down to two, giving one to busses and one to cyclists, bought lots of brand new air conditioned busses, made the city centre parking more pre hour than a bus ride and BINGO - we have an AMAZING public transport system so good that I gave my car away 6 months ago as it had become effectively abandoned...
