  7. MY friend in the USA is the IT manager for a big hospital group. They are desperately trying to get her to take early retirement cos she will very soon hit 40 years and her pension will go up to 75% of her final salary. I dont know her exact salary but I know its over $200k... She is one of the VERY last of the generation that got lifelong employment and a good pension.

  8. OH I am so pleased he is still with you. I had a massive fright at Christmas as an ambulance arrived for my elderly and much-loved neighbour - but they did not take him and 5 days later he was in this allotment digging the ground.

  10. I remember things at work in 1990 better than I remember what I did last week - we no longer use our memories. I used to have perfect recall of every conversation I had ever had, no longer, I literally can not remember my phone number now.

  13.  @ifbfmto9338  - its called a "Seculum" a long human life - 80 to 100 years. Its also the span of peach before major wars. Civil war - WW2 - Next war... YEP its about due any time now. As a European, I think it will be another civil war of sorts in America.

  15. There is an old woman in my block that walks with 2 sticks. She takes the stairs to the 3rd floor, where she lives, every day. She goes and buys her morning coffee from the cafe, zooms all over the place she does.
