I live in Eastern Europe - Im British. I earn Eastern European wages and my standard of living is unattainable for 50% of the West. In my VERY working-class part of the city of Burgas the average blue-collar famil.y has 2 kids on 1 wage in their mid 20's Eastern Europeans pride themselves on their suffering and refuse to admit life has got a LOT better in the last 30 years.

@the_pinkerton How can I be objectively speaking wrong when its my literal day to day life I am describing...???

@the_pinkerton The minimum wage in my city is 1,200 leva a month - my rent is 300 leva a month for a 70m2 apartment. I buy hot freshly cooked food every day cos I cant cook, I have a disability - that costs me 300 leva a month. My electricity is 30 lv, water 10 lv, internet 15 lv, 1 month bus pass is 35 lv. So a person on minimum wage can afford my apartment and my lifestyle and have money left over for socialising

@the_pinkerton YES - my neighbours the people I talk to every day of my life. I live in a panel block in the working class part of Burgas in Bulgaria IN Eastern Europe. My neighbours work with their hands and come home dirty often from a night shift.

@the_pinkerton If you lived in a brand new apartment that was nicely furnished you could add 300 to that. I don't buy endless crap I don't need. I forgot I have a YouTube subscription that's 13 leva and aTIDAL music that's 10 lv. I uses viber to talk to people and most of the city has free wifi so I only have to but 10 leva or credit ever 6 months to keep the sim card active. Ive lived here for 15 years and when I arrived it was a VERY poor country. But it has radically changed and it has changed for my friends in Romania.

@the_pinkerton There is a national minimum wage but the expensive cities have a higher minimum. The average cost of a pre cooked meal at Anet the little supermarket is 15 lv / 1kg I usually get about 500g = 6.8 which leaves about 3.20 for some fruit and maybe a yoghurt - yoghurt is 1.50 for 500g so 75 ct a day. Apples are 2lv got 1kg oranges about 3 lv for 1kg, cheese is 16lv for 1kg. Cheese is about 16 lv for 1kg bread about 1.6lv for 400g So 400g meal + 2 X 100g apples + 1 x 100g orange + 250g of yoghurt + 50g of cheese in a sandwich is 9.45 lv
