OH WOW - I LIVED NEAR HIM as a kid - about 200m down the road - I remember the post box in his garden
51
I used it for hundreds of hours - 5 miles south of Leeds never knowing it was invented in Leeds...
23
I just re-watched Blake's 7 Honestly it is really good - not the sets obviously LOL. But the storylines are GREAT It is DEFINITELY worth re-watching.

MORE FASHION HISTORY and fashion theory in this 10-minute show then most people get in a lifetime today.
15
Well he has a wikipedia page - Malcolm Appleby
13
MY MOTHER insisted till the day she died spaghetti grew on trees...

@bazerwazer6180 EXACTLY - and the mods, the punks and the teddy boys will be fighting later that night, the litter was astonishing, apart from the fish and chips the food looked terrible. What most people mean when they say this is - there were no 8r0wn people...
12
£9 IN 1971 is £276 in 2022 So about £300 today

its called "THE TOUR OF LIFE" and it is utterly astonishing - i wish I had seen it live " Kate Bush - The tour of Life HD LPR Remastering (Live at Hammersmith Odeon 79) "

OK - well this is the definative answer on the stie academics use - measuring worth: real price of that commodity is £1,785.00 labour value of that commodity is £2,855.00 income value of that commodity is £3,497.00 economic share of that commodity is £4,274.00 So you would have to earn £2,855 to buy it today - but commodities have got cheaper so the commodity price would be £1,785
7
OMG Im so pleased for you

My comment; I just re-watched Blake's 7 Honestly it is really good - not the sets obviously LOL. But the storylines are GREAT It is DEFINITELY worth re-watching.

THE GUY AGAINST SUNDAY REFORM is a better advocate and politician than anyone in the House Of Parliament today
3
I GENUINELY SAW SOMEONE USING A 3310 THIS MORNING And I was jealous...!!!
3
@zeddeka YEAH they got a heck of a lot worse after 1979 for anyone in an industrial job in the north - I dont remember out neighbours burning their furniture for heating in the 70's but I sure do in the 80's...!!!
3
THAT WAS BRILLIANT made my day
3
I love me some brown

@analogueman123456787 I moved to Bulgaria in 2009 and EVERYONE dressed beautifully, it was like being at an Italian fashion gathering. No Am3ric4n food companies so everyone was slim. I didnt see a fat person for 3 years. Now everyone looks like homogenous characters in diabetes commercials. The irony is I get to see a lot of pictures of the communist times, they were WAY more stylish than today. Communism created great style and capitalism created the washed-out grey blob.
2
@analogueman123456787 I'm glad I found this video again. In the 4 days since I commented how bad clothing had got here in Bulgaria, I have seen lots of beautifully dressed people. The temperature went up and people had outfits waiting it would seem.
2
Well you see I think a floaty maxi dresse.Biba, Laura Ashley, Jeff Banks, Zandra Rhodes etc. is just bad 70's fashion
2
beautifully put
2
@trishconsidine513 HAHAHA thats made m y day
2
YEP - thats what impressed me
2
RIGHT - LETS HAVE A LOOK for the racist comments thinly disguised as nostalgia LOL

@fingmoron The problem with the Countach was it created massive negative pressure over the rear and that is literally sucking it backwards, where it wins though, and people forget this when quoting Coefficient of Drag number is you have to multiply that by the frontal area in m^2 So 1.0CD and 1m^2 = 0.5CD and 2m^2 = 0.25CD and 4m^2
2
@fingmoron - Yeah it was at the edge of the area where you can just push faster with more power. I mean for me the Lambo is just the most amazing piece of design art - its just amazing. I genuinely have no interest in driving one - id rather just look at it and not ruin the experience cos the people I have talked to who have driven one say its literally like driving a tractor, its horrible to drive.
2
@DjNikGnashers - Im not disagreeing - I cant see any way on gods earth that did 200mph. And the Countach is stunning from the LP400 to the LP5000QV If it were released today it would STILL be stunning and futuristic.
2
@DjNikGnashers - I would be utterly terrified driving that at speed. Like you I love the fact he built it, I hope its still in existence somewhere. The new Aptera electric car has less total drag than the wing mirror on an F150 pickup - thats how good they are getting with aero. Looks futuristic obviously. But we will get used to the look of aerodynamic cars as we move to electric.
2
I WAS A GREAT ADVOCATE OF SUNDAY TRADING I was wrong, the guys is correct, the minority can be in the right.

I was born in 1970 - Mr Boradhead had a garden next door to ours and he used to do the gardening in a 3 piece suit and high collar, I guess he was born in about 1890. We grew up in the servant's houses of an old Victorian pleasure gardens that had closed about 1950, so we were all dirt poor but had massive ornate gardens. My grandmother and grandfather lived next door and my auntie lived across the courtyard. There was an old lamp on the wall and we would watch the snow each winter as it fell past the lamp and filled the yard 2 or 3 feet deep...
1
@steve00alt70 I think you will find the state has very much ruined your fun
1
Im jealous - I moved to Bulgaria and they dont have quiet Sundays
1
YEP - we were brought up to really respect the dustmen and to give them a really good tip at Christmas
1
@TheMockatiel We had an Avenger and our neighbour had a Hillman Imp
1
THEY WERE RIGHT THOUGH this is where society started to go wrong, you start off with exotic crisp flavours and 40 years later a tech billion is buying a social media platform to own the president of the USA... We should have listened to them...!!!
1
@michellefalleur960 YES according to the relative wealth calculator that most historians use
1
Yeah unless you glued it down a cot got that at some point in. the last 53 years LOL
1
@George-dt4il Well tell him I deeply appreciate the hundreds of hours of fun his father gave me as a child
1
@iannu4887 No thats right - you just had the mods, the punks and the teddy boys waring and the football hooligans and the p3d0s were TV celebrities so you knew exactly where they were...!!!
1
@mjarve909 I was aware of the confusion over the name - cos I was trying to find it to watch about 3 months ago - thats actually why I posted the comment. It was hard to find a HD videp of the show.
1
why does there always have to be some vile racist in the comments on historical videos...???
1
@fingmoron YES - apparently the suspension bushings are a problem as well - they only last 4,000 miles and they are unavailable so you have to have them machined up

Unfortunately humans need boredom, as boring as it is. ADHD is not "created" by the modern world but the lack of boredom, the endless input does dramatically increase the severity and prevalence of ADHD
1
@Slothsnail They are very wobbly LOL. But honestly it was SO much better as an adult than a kid watching it.
