  1. Yesterday I was getting adverts on YouTube to go work in Riga the capital of Latvia - it used to be a standing joke Pols and Latvians coming to the UK for jobs, NOW they are the ones wanting the low paid migrant labour.

  2.  @lat1419  -The greatest trick the Tories have pulled is convincing people that £30k is a NORMAL salary - people on £50k are well pad and greedy if they ask for more. I have NO IDEA how they managed this. My last salaried job in the Uk was 2002, I was a sales person for a company in York. My salary was £65 - which was a good salary, but not banker level by any means. But that would be £115k in todays money, but when I LOOK for jobs of that level today they pay £50k Salaries have gone DOWN in many instances, in £ for £ terms, not just not rising with inflation but actually DOWN. Even if the UK opened up to freedom of movement tomorrow - no one would come cos the wages have risen SO MUCH in Eastern Europe - here in Bulgaria 550% since 1990. The average wage was 400 leva a month when I moved here in 2009 - its now 2,000 leva a month.

  4.  @lat1419  - I think what has happened is companies have lost a guy on £65k and replaced them with someone on £50k. I think the expectations of Millenials have been so crushed they don't demand as much as we used to, they are just grateful not to be driving an Uber on zero hour contract. And I certainly came up through the ranks - started commission only at the Yorkshire Post selling advertising space as a school leaver.

  5. I GENUINELY NEVER THOUGHT BREXIT WOULD HAPPEN it was obviously going to be SO DAMAGING to the Uk in every respect, I never thought any government would be stupid enough to implement it... Then the UK elected Boris johnson and I thought - OH, maybe the govt are not stupid enough - but clearly the people are.

  8.  @cyberslim7955  NOPE - where I lived in Yorkshire the farms had caravans full of Latvian immigrants on them as seasonal farm workers. This was 2005 ish
