@harryblockser As a British person this was NOT something I expected when I moved to Bulgaria. They DID NOT thank the West for destroying the USSR. They had good lives and they were mostly happy, they suffered immensely when the USSR collapsed and even now many want to go back to it, and not exclusively the old people.

This was my comment - it matches yours perfectly: THE AM3RIC4N EMPIRE IS ALREADY OVER...!!! I follow truly global media as part of my "job" ... - the vast majority of the worlds media does not mention the US from one week to the next. When Iran launched the 4ttack NO ONE was asking "What will am3ric4 do..?" China - yes, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the country we cant name - yes. But NO ONE cared what the US did - it was irrelevant. At that moment I realised "the Am3ric4n empire is OVER, we just didnt notice" ----- Am3ric4 has just slowly faded out of relevance. Am3rci4 is 2.7% of Chinas GDP, to listen to US media you would think it is 60%. 11 African countries now have high speed rail and the US has none, Nigerians are traveling to work at 330km/h whilst Am3ric4ns stit in traffic on 50 year old bridges. We all expected the end of the empire to be a BIG event, the collapse of a superpower should be a massive thing, in actual fact the rest of the world just got sick of the bullying and made other arrangements

SOMETHING YOU FORGOT that has had a dramatic outside influence on the collapse of the US - Biden stealing Russias $USD This showed the world that any time it wished the US can just STEAL your foreign reserves if you keep them in $USD - the gold price before Biden was elected was. $1,393.34/Oz Its now $2,622. It has basically DOUBLED and that is cos everyone is buying gold to get safe reserves

@Jjoooji I had travelled in 55 countries by 2009 when I was deciding where to settle down. My criteria were 1) It had to have sun - I suffer SAD badly 2) It had to have a strong sense of community and society - not be atomised like the UK and the US 3) It had to be economically on the UP, even if it was still poor. The future had to be better then today - not the other way around 4) It had to be affordable Bulgaria fit all those so I booked a holiday and spent the holiday looking for an apartment of villa - I got one, went hack, packed up and moved here in Sept 2009. I LOVE IT. Is it perfect - very far from it. But im part of a community here in a way that I never was as an adult in the UK. My dog passed away last week and when my neighbour saw me this morning she asked how I was coping, I didn't know the names of my =neighbours in the UK. The main thing about living in Bulgaria is to NEVER EXPECT. Just because the shop says it opens ar 9 am and closes for lunch at 12 does not mean it will be open between those hours. Things happen when they happen.

@naapsuvaimne740 I literally just typed the following: SOMETHING YOU FORGOT that has had a dramatic outside influence on the collapse of the US - Biden stealing Russias $USD This showed the world that any time it wished the US can just STEAL your foreign reserves if you keep them in $USD - the gold price before Biden was elected was. $1,393.34/Oz Its now $2,622. It has basically DOUBLED and that is cos everyone is buying gold to get safe reserves ---- Trump did the same to Iran over the nuclear deal - but Irans GDP grew 5% last year cos the world developed NEW systems of exchange as a result of the US abusing its USD power

@intellectually_lazy To the guy who watched truly global media for 8 years and had the fact and figures of global economics at his fingertips is the naive one - and I guess the guy with the 2 word comment is the author on geopolitics in this debate...??? Cos THATS how the world works - are you Am3ric4n by any chance??? Elon Musk just had some choice words about you guys this week.

Im an author on the collapse of civilisations - the USSR [mostly] collapsed cos the US bankrupted it in an arms race

@Jjoooji OK - The mistake I made was not learning the alphabet first and just trying to learn to speak the words. THAT made my life 10 X harder in the long run. After about 3 years I learned the alphabet and then it started to get a LOT easier - and I am REALLY bad at languages. But once you can read a label on a supermarket shelf it suddenly gets a LOT easier. In 2015 I suffered brain damage in an accident and it significantly impaired my memory - so my Bulgarian language skills are stuck in 2015, I have learned nothing since. So 95% of my learning was done between 2012 and 2015 and i know enough to live every day life quite comfortably. BUT... They started teaching English to every child in school about 2010 - 2014 so basically everyone below 30 years old speaks English.
