Here in Bulgaria one of my neighbours is an engineer who fixes power lines - when a storm comes in he is kitted up and out with his team in their pickup truck stationed in the mountains waiting - they don't even wait for the storm to pass before they are fixing the downed power lines. 100kph winds and driving rain these guys are reconnecting the downed lines. There would be a 3 week consultation period and a 4 week bidding process in the UK for a subcontractor to be appointed. In 2022 we had a tornado - did terrible damage, it was cleared up in 2 days. 50% of it was cleared up in 4 hours.

Bu!!5!t jobs that need filling cos this class of people vote in high % so they get pandered to, working class people vote in low % so they get nothing. A tree falls down there is £25,000 in managerial fees and £500 in cutting it up and removing it
