I LIVE IN BULGARIA the poorest country in the EU. Unemployment benefit here is HIGHER than in the UK, £140 a week on average in my city 4 X as many hospital beds per capita as the UK. Mobile MRI & Health clinics visit every village in the country at least 1 time per year. ALL kids get FREE school meals - so why can the poorest country in the EU afford what the UK cant...???

@Tensquaremetreworkshop - that is because you allow employers to pay unlivable wages and then use Tax payers money to subsidise those wages - DOH.

@tancreddehauteville764 I live in a working-class area of Burgas - 22% of the cars in the carpark at my block are brand new 2024 models...!!! And they are not little Nissan and Toyota they are BMW, Merc, Skoda etc

@Tensquaremetreworkshop Of course they are worth a livable wage - you are m3nt4lly i!!

@alphalunamare Medical Proffessionals in The US earn a lot more than their peers in the UK. The difference is that nurses and teachers are among the highest paid in Bulgaria's society.

@tancreddehauteville764 The cars??? 85% of people own their own homes with no mortgage cos - ev!l communism - and wages have gone up 550% since 2020. Small businesses can and do exist, not everything is owned by a giant corporation. The bakers on the corner has a AMG GL500 and a brand new BMW 4 door coupe. There are waiting lists to rent a shop in the city centre, upward mobility and opportunity are a THING. People are making money and they are not paying 50% of it on housing.

@BAmalakas 1) Its easier to move here than you think - getting a Dype D 5 year visa is quite easy...!! 2) There is no absolute right to land ownership here - if you have neglected or abandoned the land anyone can take it over, cultivate it and after 2 years they own it. There used to be a LOT of abandoned vineyards north of Burgas. That said - you can buy a house in a village with some land for £20k, it will need £20k of renovations 3) 40% of the UK is private estates of the hyper wealthy - you just dont see it cos the roads dont go through it...!!!

@MelissaGarrett1980 Bulgaria is 85% working class, but working-class like the UK had in the 70's where they can happily afford a house on 1 salary. 14% middle class and 1% wealthy. There are only 2 billionaires and fewer than 1000 millionaires. Whereas in the UK 27% of pensioners are millionaires.

@chickendinner4098 GOD you are so th!ck is literally painful to read your comments. Bulgaria has a public broadcaster, it has militery spending at 2.2%, it is sending money and arms to Ukraine, it has politicians, it sends over seas donations AND IT IS THE GATEWAY COUNTRY FROM THE MIDDLE EAST INTO EUROPE SO IT HAS MORE IMMIGRANTS THAN THE UK....!!! It does not have a Royal family but that costs £100 million a year which is 1/3rs what the UK spends on art galleries. ITS RICH PEOPLE - THATS THE PROBLEM....!!! Again - STOP BELIEVING THE LIES.
