IT WAS OVER A FULL WORKING DAY though. It was the amount of work a horse could do consistently over a FULL day. Horses tire, not as much as buffalo or cows, but they tire and need to rest etc. Whereas a tractor or pump does not. Hence the massive disparity. I had this out with my physics teacher at college. Its 17.64 Kw/h per 24 hour day. A horse cant do that a steam engine can. EDIT - yeah 5 pulls.
