IM BRITISH BUT LIVE IN A COMMUNIST APARTMENT BLOCK in Bulgaria - I have never felt more like I live in a village than here - and I used to live in a village in the UK. I know every one of my neighbours, they are my friends, we look after each other, as a community we look after the children. I am 53 and alone due to events in life - but I am never for one second lonely even though I am terrible at speaking Bulgarian...

CONGRATULATIONS - YOU MANAGE TO FIT IT INTO JUST 25 MINUTES

@herm574 - Its really nice. When I moved here I drove past these old apartment blocks and said to my GF "MY GOD - imagine being so poor you have to live there!" Circumstances led me to be that poor - and I discovered that actually, they are great places to live.

YEP - thats the nature of money = power being in the and of fewer and fewer people

IM AN AUTHOR ON PSYCHOLOGY this is the best take on Peterson I have ever seen, he is my go-to example of a cerebral narcissist BTW

YOU MADE THE GREAT MISTAKE the greatest of great mistakes - YOU CRITICISED AMERICA Im an author - I mildly criticised Amazon in a book I published this week - they pulled it in America. I have to edit the name out of the book to get it published. America and its corporations dont like criticism...

I've traveled in 55 countries generally the richer the country the less happy the people

Its not so much an EU thing as a generalised neoliberalisation of the modern world.

@ontheline3077 - Thank you very much...!

CHINA IS A "socialist consultative democracy” or a "whole-process people's democracy”. Very similar to some forms of anarcho-communism, you vote for a local representative, they vote for the next level up and so on all the way to the top - 6 layers. The people are regularly consulted on local projects, they are INCLUDED in decision-making. 85% of Chinese people feel the govt listens to them, about 21% of Americans think the same

IM AN AUTHOR living in Bulgaria collecting stories of life under communism - the FIRST thing you have to do is immediately discount any story from a defector / western sympathiser. Its a massive "survivorship bias" - they literally hated their country so much they left it / tried to leave it. There are millions and millions who did not do that and were quite happy. Im British - I left Britain - don't ask me if you want a balanced opinion of Britain...

I now LIVE in the former soviet block and I can 100% confirm the old USSR white goods are amazing. I no longer buy anything new, I look for second-hand communist era stuff that will work and work and work and when it does break down a guy can repair it and the part will cost me $3 The great thing about old communist stuff is it has the manufacture date on - EVERYTHING has the date on it. My washing up bowl is 1977. Its plastic but its so thick I can use iit as a step ladder to stand on and reach the top shelf. Incidentally, most people here want to go back to communism, they liked it, they only learned what stress was when capitalism arrived.

@lorigulfnoldor2162 The US government and / or insurance co's pay out and new sh1t gets built
15
I LIVE IN BULGARIA basically everyone alive in the communist [socialist] times want to go back to it...
13
@ベース-l1f Ive spent 14 years collating first-hand stories of life under communism - so I would argue "I DO" know exactly what it was like, 250 people have told me. You dont have to be smart to know your life was better on X day than Y day. This is extreme intellectual snobbery.

abody499 It was built by the communist authorities in Bulgaria in the 1970;s. Its privately owned but rents here are very low - my rent is $150 a month on a 850 sq foot apartment next to the beach.

RUSSIA 1905 - still had agrarian peasents USSR 1957 - first satellite in space Thats not too shabby

@18nakedcowboys69 - Thanks - Im really surprised how popular my rather simple comment has proven. I think that shows how much is missing from modern society...

AMERICA IS ONE OF THE LEAST FREE DEVELOPED COUNTRIES ON EARTH thats why they talk about freedom all the time, you dont talk about what yo have and take for granted...

@iflycessnas4707 Where I live in the UK it rained non stop for 6 years - I became depressed and just had to move to somewhere with sunshine.

CAN I RECOMMEND "The Rest Is History" Podcast on East Germany - out today - absolutely FANTASTIC Many facts that we were just never told or outright lied to about in the west. EDIT - they PAID you to go to university, provided accommodation whilst at uni and provided child car whist you attended lectures - the evil commie b4stards

@CharlieLaing2004 Its really hard when people tell you "you are better than this" they dont realse its counterproductive. I was an alcoholic and evry time i tried to stop and failed - this is what peopel said to me, she same and the guilt it made just made me far worse. I was able to mode house to get away from this and it changed my life - if you can not do this explain to your parents yo have depression and you know they think they are helping - but honestly just leaving me alone to sort this out and ignoring it / me would be better. Then just start by getting a shower tomorrow morning, putting on clean clothes and go for a short walk. Do that for a week and then build on it a little, maybe a longer walk or a cold shower, each week just build on this foundation and I 100% promise you - it will change your life. I worked with abuse victims for 8 years - physical activity and mental health are so directly connected they are basically the same thing. Yo are at the bottom of this spiral and you just have to start that spiral moving UPWARDS...!!! Good luck.

@jhonshephard921 That is very interesting - yes there is gossiping and social pressure.

@ベース-l1f OH MY GOD - bananas and coke - well that makes up for the stress and job insecurity. I wish I had mentioned the bananas to people...

IM AN AUTHOR on the collapse of civilisations - China is not collapsing, but the USA and my home country most definitely ARE collapsing. Russia is undergoing turmoil but has astonishing mineral resources so thats really hard to predict.

@Toy1er Reported for harrasment

I now LIVE in the former soviet block and I can 100% confirm the old USSR Ladas are highly sought after and last for ever. They dont rust either - the export ones did, not the USSR made ones. There are many 50 year old ones in daily use here, their owners are respected, not looked down upon- as was the case 20 years ago...
4
@RS-rz9lw - I know - its a Fiat 124 uprated for Russian roads and weather. I dont see your point. How many Fiat 1245's do you see each day?? Cos I see a dozen Ladas driving about each day... I know its hard to understand for a westerner - but new is NOT automatically better. These owners have had 50 years of motoring and for the last 10 years its cost them about $100 a year in repairs, $50 insurance, and fuel. How is that not good...???

I just tried to donate to Medical Aid for Palestine having read your comment - and they dont take paypal...

@hardrocklobsterroll395 - Thank you - I am very happy here.

It's amazing, the ability of brainless people to keep saying things as dum8 as this.

ISRAEL WONT EXIST IN 25 YEARS Netanyahu has sealed their fate... Afghanistan has shown that patience = victory. America is losing its hegemony. Iran and the other Arab nations will wait until America is embroiled in another pointless way, Millenials and Gen Z make up the majority of the voting population in the US, and then Iran will avenge this. Politicians forget, people forget, nations and religions dont forget. Their fate is sealed.
4
@vesuncho2952 Yeah Im not so much interested in "did you like it?" as specific stories - good and bad. One of the best is from Romania - a friend of mine. Now Romania had a terrible time as they had a terrible dictator. Every Christmas she used to get a pigs ear to chew on as a treat.

IM A BRITISH COMMUNIST i literally don't give a sh!t about the royal family in that its dirt cheap - £100 million a year, we spend 2 X that on art galleries and i like art galleries. Let the people who like the royal family have it. They just took £4 billion off disabled people to pay for abolishing inheritance tax for the rich...!!! That's what I care about Arguing over the royal family is a distraction.
3
@Porky - /the only way you can criticise Marx is by not reading it. Once you read it, you are forced, however reluctantly, to agree he was a genius and he was almost entirely correct.
3
THE USSR HAD A HIGHER LIFE EXPECTANCY IN 1970 than many US states today...!!! That said - its not hard, Missisipy has a lower life expectancy today than Bangladesh...!!!
3
THIS WANKER IS TOO ANNOYING to even watch...

@kindlingking I said "Russia is undergoing turmoil but has astonishing mineral resources so thats really hard to predict." Russia can go a very very long way down the slope of decline and still keep going cos it exports oil and minerals in such vast quantities. But you never know where the money is going to go. Russia is so chaotic its really hard to say what is goign to happen.
3
@kindlingking - I just included Russia cos if I did not someone would say "BUT RUSSIA IS COLLAPSING AS WELL...!!!" as you kinda noted.
3
@enemyoftheserpent2632 Its called "ADRIFT IN THE SHARK TANK - Coping in a Post Pandemic World" .

@termitreter6545 - Sorry dude - you don't know how research works. This is not about your opinion or your views on what truth is or is not. These are standard research protocols to avoid taint. If I were writing a book about Astronauts would I include 50% flat earthers for balance? EDIT: "Just because someone is biased doesnt mean they have to be wrong" It LITERALLY means they are wrong in their recollection and perception. Bias - definition: cause to feel or show inclination or prejudice for or against someone or something.
2
@termitreter6545 - Dude take it up with the academic world. I don't make the rules on how to conduct surveys / do research.
2
@termitreter6545 - You are a strangely obsessive person.
2
@termitreter6545 I literally never mentioned "scientific work". Not once, not in any way. Just let it go dude.
