I now LIVE in the former soviet block and I can 100% confirm the old USSR white goods are amazing. I no longer buy anything new, I look for second-hand communist era stuff that will work and work and work and when it does break down a guy can repair it and the part will cost me $3 The great thing about old communist stuff is it has the manufacture date on - EVERYTHING has the date on it. My washing up bowl is 1977. Its plastic but its so thick I can use iit as a step ladder to stand on and reach the top shelf. Incidentally, most people here want to go back to communism, they liked it, they only learned what stress was when capitalism arrived.

I now LIVE in the former soviet block and I can 100% confirm the old USSR Ladas are highly sought after and last for ever. They dont rust either - the export ones did, not the USSR made ones. There are many 50 year old ones in daily use here, their owners are respected, not looked down upon- as was the case 20 years ago...

@RS-rz9lw - I know - its a Fiat 124 uprated for Russian roads and weather. I dont see your point. How many Fiat 1245's do you see each day?? Cos I see a dozen Ladas driving about each day... I know its hard to understand for a westerner - but new is NOT automatically better. These owners have had 50 years of motoring and for the last 10 years its cost them about $100 a year in repairs, $50 insurance, and fuel. How is that not good...???

@JK-rv9tp - The export ones were terrible. The home market USSR ones were great.

@devrusso - I live in Bulgaria now - there are lots here and they are now quite sought after for their reliability and ease of repair.

@meganoobbg3387 I know Sliven well, but I've not been there for about 6 years. The sea is nice and warm now...! When you come out of Burgas past Mr Brickolage in the next residential zone [dont want to give the name of the zone on YT comments] you will pass my apartment block, its the tallest one in that residential zone...

@meganoobbg3387 - An amazingly green one I see from your video's :-D Where are you in Bulgaria? Im in Burgas region

AND if you build something to last 50 years - like the USSR made steam irons I have for tailoring - it takes longer and uses more materials. which LOOKS in efficient, But my modern steam irons were lasting 1 year in a tailoring setting. Making 50 steam irons when you CAN make 1 is NOT efficient. Its not comparing like for like

@ferblancart8669 _yeah that's why people in the USA don't have affordable healthcare - WOW you fully swallowed the propaganda didn't you?? The economy of the URRS did NOT "collapse" it was bankrupted by the USA via sanctions and an arms race it never wanted. F-uk where do they breed you people?
