  1. I AM INCREDIBLY LUKCY that I lived 100m away from Bainton airfield when Taffy Smith had the pink photo recognisance Spitfire... Very few living people have heard a Spitfire at maximum power - they are just tootling along, Taffy used to thrash it to bits. In 2000 it used to use £400 of fuel for the 15 minutes a time he flew it.
