  1. WHEN WINDING YOUR BOBIN slacken the knurled nut at the centre of the hand wheel and it will disengage the rest of the mechanism..!!! DONT start the machine with the knurled nut - start it by turning the hand wheel forward until the treddle is just past top dead centre and on its way down, then flick the wheel downwards and press the peddle "catching" the spinning motion and then take pressure off as the peddle comes up and over the top, then "catch" it again and press down with the foot. The foot only presses.
