@panchoivanov4409 - It had every issue known to man, It has a wiring loom fault and things just randomly stopped working, then they would start working again and as it was not a switch or a CPU and it was intermittent it was almost impossible to fix. I believe this is a common issue they develop in hot countries, ive been told it gets too hot at the back of the engine and breaks down the insulation on the wiring loom.

@panchoivanov4409 Yeah - apparently the V12's are really bad for it. Just a correction - mine was a CL55 AMG not SL. The coupe - I just make the correction as I don't know if the SL has the same issue and I don't want to mislead people. I kept meaning to get it fixed, but eventually, the council wanted to build a car park and wanted it moved, by this point, the suspension has sat itself on the floor, all the brakes were rusted on, I had covid at the time so it was just easier to give it away to a friend of a friend. They actually had to use lifting straps on the bucket of the excavator to pick it up and put it on the back of a transporter cos by this point they had started digging the carpark out so it was sat on a pedestal of land in what looked like a quarry LOL I worry that there wont be "classic cars" of the 2000 to 2020 range as they all have so many electronics that all go wrong, 1 1990 classic you can mend with wires and switches. what do you do with a 50 year old CL55AMG when a CPU stops working?

@panchoivanov4409 Unfortunately it does not work like that - we THINK it does, but it does not. The Ferrari 360 is strangely cheap and the reason is the engine control module is out of production and its a single chip that NO ONE makes any longer, there are lots of people with F 360's that they can't use cos they can't get the module for. One of the main reasons the Space Suttle was retired was the lack of availability of the chips, for 10 years they were taking them out of second-hand toys bought on eBay - that's not a joke. I mean for some things yeah you will be able to do a work around, but the cars with the highest collectability are the rarest models and they will have the lost availability of spare chips. What I think you might see is "full electronic rip outs" If in 2040 you have a SL55 AMG and it does not work cos a module went fzzzt - you will rip ALL the electronics out and replace it with a 3rd party universal system wont you?

I gave one away about 18 months ago - it had sat outside unused [here in Bulgaria] so long the council put a sticker on it saying they would crush it if I didn't move it. 2002, white with biscuit leather and 88k miles on it.
